Hrafnegjà:
An Exploration of Icelandic Geology and the Resources it Generates
Hrafnegjà is an eco-tourism and education center, highlighting the geology of Iceland, the influence of the tectonic shift, and the renewable energy it generates, specifically geothermal energy production and its distribution at a national scale. The building also serves as a “base-camp” for excursions to the surrounding area, where visitors can experience, first-hand, what they are learning.
The entrance to the building cuts through the earth, submerging the visitor into the geology
The exhibit corridor has access to the research and classroom facilities, as well as several learning boards to teach visitors of the natural phenomena occurring throughout Iceland.
A glass skywalk cantilevers over the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, allowing the visitors to fully submerge themselves into the tectonic shift.
For visitors wishing to explore the phenomena firsthand, the building is equipped with lodging facilities
